COVID-19 Precautions:
During this time we are not gathering at IMC so many of the promotion strategies listed on this page are not currently available. Please take advantage of the email list in item 1 and refer to the Zoom event flyer example as a template for your email. The steering committee will be able to promote some events via the newsletter and main IMC calendar as described below.

Promote your event
1. Send email announcements
Send an e-mail to imcdharmafriends@googlegroups.com. The steering committee will grant you posting privileges when your event is approved.
- First e-mail: several weeks before your event
- Second e-mail: several days before the event
- Exception: additional e-mail can be sent 1-2 months in advance ONLY for events requiring pre-planning, like camping trips
2. Create a flyer for your event
Here are some examples:
What to do with your flyer:
- Put ~25 paper flyers on the IMC announcement counter several weeks before your event.
- Post flyer on Dharma Friends Google Site Upcoming Events Page
- Send flyer via e-mail to imcdharmafriends@googlegroups.com
- First e-mail: several weeks before your event

3. Arrange for your event to be announced at sittings
Contact Dharma Friends Steering Committee if your event is NOT listed in the Sangha calendar. Events listed in the sangha calendar will be automatically announced at sittings. Events are announced once, the week before the scheduled date.
Tell them this is an approved Dharma Friends event
Give them a one-two sentence description.
Examples:
“This Friday, the Dharma-Inspired book group will meet in the meditation Hall from 5:30-7 p.m.. We are currently reading A Path with Heart by Jack Kornfield.”
“This Sunday the Dharma Friends will be leading a 3 mile hike at Edgewood Park. Carpools will leave from IMC at 11:15.”
4. Other promotion options
List your event in the quarterly Insight Newsletter.
Events approved at the quarterly Steering Committee meeting will be listed in the next newsletter. There is only room for a very brief listing for each event in the newsletter.
5. The Sangha calendar and the e-mail distribution “Upcoming IMC Events”
Event must be in the latest newsletter and held at IMC. Not all Dharma Friends events held at IMC will be listed on the sangha calendar.
